Kick-off for the Smart Energy System Lab
The starting signal for the new Smart Energy System Lab has been given. On June 27th the participating students were welcomed with a kick-off event at the Energy Lab 2.0. The lab is funded as an ExU activity under the ExU project "Research Infrastructures in Research-Oriented Teaching (RI-RO Teaching)".
Within the framework of this laboratory, which is being offered for the first time, master's students from the courses of study in computer science, electrical engineering and information technology, mechatronics and mechanical engineering are devoting themselves to the following four project topics from the field of energy systems:
- Detection of household appliances using smart plugs
- Modeling of grid fault conditions including integration into the power hardware-in-the-loop environment
- Data transport from different measuring devices for electrical consumers and generators
- Modelling of an on-load tap changer (OLTC) transformer including integration into the power hardware-in-the-loop environment.
In the following weeks, the students will familiarize themselves with their project topics and then work on their projects in intensive collaboration with the scientists of the Energy Lab 2.0. The labs of the Smart Energy System Simulation and Control Center (SEnSSiCC) and the experimental buildings of the Living Lab Energy Campus (LLEC) will be integrated into the projects.
For the students, this laboratory offers the opportunity to work in a real research environment on relevant topics related to sustainable energy systems and to deepen their knowledge.
For the scientists at Energy Lab 2.0, the integration of their research topics into the teaching means a gain in new perspectives and early contact with future (young) scientists.
We are looking forward to the time together and to exciting results.
